In October 2012 we will have again the great pleasure to host Kristina Karitinos-Ireland, the most important Ashtanga Yoga Teacher in Greece, direct student of the great Ashtanga Senior Teacher Derek Ireland (her late husband) and of Guruji Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Kristina Karitinos-Ireland Kristina Karitinos-Ireland was born in Athens Greece in 1971. Following her studies in theater and dance, she started practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at the age of 19 at Lotus Yoga Center in Athens. Her first teachers were Linda Kapetaniou and Periklis Hristodoulopoulos. Once she completed her first teacher training at the Lotus Center, she attended the Satayananda Yoga teacher training in Peania, Attica. From 1992 up to 1998, Kristina continued her studies in the art of yoga with her late husband and senior teacher of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Derek Ireland. They taught together for three years in India, the UK and at the Practice Place in Crete, Greece . Meanwhile, Kristina visited Mysore for the first time in 1995 where she became a direct student of the guru Pattabhi Jois (director of Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute (http://www.ayri.org)) and his grandson, Sarat Sarajanswami. In 1999, she moved to Brighton , UK and established the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in south England. Two years later, she became co-founder of YogaPractice, London (www.yogapractice.net) with Michael Anastassiades. After several visits to Mysore, in 2003 Kristina became an authorized teacher by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. She has been in Athens since 2003 where she has taught the primary, intermediate and third series. She has offered workshops and retreats in Greece and in Europe .
